About Fortis

A business consultancy built by people who run businesses.

Fortis Business Advisory exists to help businesses succeed. Not with a framework or a slide deck, but with the combination of disciplines a growing company actually needs, delivered by one firm that knows your numbers.

Why Fortis exists

The gap between the accountant and the business.

Most small and medium-sized businesses are supported by a patchwork: an accountant who files the accounts, a payroll bureau, an HR consultant on a retainer, a marketing agency, a software reseller and maybe a business coach. None of them share a picture of the business, and the owner spends their time as the go-between.

Fortis was built to close that gap. The practice began as an accountancy and payroll firm, Accounts Covered, and grew through running other businesses, where the same lesson kept repeating: good decisions need the numbers, the people, the systems and the market in the same conversation. So we put them in the same firm.

Today Fortis offers an ecosystem of services under one roof, from compliance to growth planning to custom business systems and AI, with introductions to independent, FCA-authorised partners where regulated advice is needed. Clients use what they need and add more when it makes sense.

Leadership

Led by an AAT member with an operator's background.

Richard Yeo, Director. Richard is a member of the Association of Accounting Technicians and the founder of Fortis. Alongside the practice he has built and run a national specialist contracting business, designed its business management platform from the ground up and deployed AI across its operations. That mix of accountancy, operations and technology is the foundation of the Fortis approach.

Fortis Business Advisory Limited is registered in England and Wales. Our AAT licence application is in progress and licence details will be published here once granted. Fortis is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

Honesty over comfort
If the numbers say the plan is wrong, we say so. If we are not the right firm for a job, we say that too and introduce you to someone who is.
Operators, not theorists
Our advice comes from building and running businesses, including a national contracting company and the systems that run it. We have made payroll on a Friday and chased the invoice to fund it.
Fixed fees, no surprises
You will know the cost before we start. Routine work is priced monthly or annually; projects are quoted as a fixed fee with a clear scope.
National by design
Cloud software, video calls and secure document exchange mean a client in Glasgow gets the same service as one in Bodmin. We travel when being in the room matters.

The Fortis family

Part of a group of businesses, not a standalone consultancy.

Fortis Business Advisory sits alongside sister ventures in technology and online commerce. That matters to clients because the systems, marketing and growth advice we give is tested in our own companies first.

Built by operators

We have made payroll on a Friday, chased the invoice to fund it, and built the system that stopped it happening again.

Fortis grew out of running a national contracting business, not out of a textbook. That is why the advice is practical and the systems actually get used.
