About us

This website is operated by Fortis Business Advisory Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number [TBC]) with its registered office at 18 Callywith Gate, Launceston Road, Bodmin PL31 2RQ. References to “Fortis”, “we” and “us” are to that company.

Regulatory status

  • Fortis is led by a member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT). Our application for an AAT licence is in progress; we will publish our licence details once granted. We do not carry out statutory audit.
  • Fortis is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. We do not provide insurance, investment, pension, mortgage, consumer credit or other regulated financial advice, and nothing on this website constitutes such advice. Where we refer to insurance or financial planning we mean introductions to independent firms that are authorised and regulated by the FCA, who advise you under their own permissions and with whom your contract will be.
  • Fortis is not a licensed insolvency practitioner and does not take formal insolvency appointments. Where a formal process may be appropriate we will introduce you to a licensed practitioner.
  • Fortis does not provide legal advice. HR support is advisory and grounded in UK employment law; where a matter requires a solicitor we will say so.

Website content

The content of this website is general information about our services. It is not advice and should not be relied on as such. Every business is different, and we only give advice after understanding your specific circumstances under a signed engagement letter. We make reasonable efforts to keep the site accurate and up to date but give no warranty that it is complete or error-free.

Engagements

All services are provided under a written engagement letter setting out the scope of work, fees, responsibilities and our full terms of business. In the event of any inconsistency between this page and an engagement letter, the engagement letter prevails. Fees are fixed and agreed in advance unless the engagement letter states otherwise.

Introductions to third parties

Where we introduce you to a third party, including an FCA-authorised broker or planner, an insolvency practitioner, a solicitor or a funder, we do so in good faith based on our knowledge of that firm. We are not responsible for the services they provide. In some cases we receive an introducer fee; where we do, we will disclose it to you before the introduction is made.

Intellectual property

All content on this website, including text, design, graphics and code, is owned by or licensed to Fortis and protected by copyright. You may view and print pages for your own reference. You may not reproduce, distribute or commercially exploit any content without our written permission.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude liability for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, this website or its content. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Liability in respect of professional services is governed by the relevant engagement letter.

Links

This website may link to third-party websites. We have no control over their content and accept no responsibility for them. A link does not imply endorsement.

Privacy

Our use of personal data is explained in our privacy policy.

Governing law

These terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
